Reproductive
Years
Once
you learn how the ovaries and adrenal glands produce hormones, you
next need to understand how hormone production and balance can change
as you age and enter changing segments of life or "lifecycles."
The
first cycle, the early reproductive stage, begins with a girl's
first menses and last until she is about thirty years old. For the
most part, if periods occur on a normal 28-day cycle, it can be
inferred that the body, and particularly the ovaries, are producing
plenty of all the required hormones, e.g. estrogen, progesterone,
and testosterone. Some young women may experience premenstrual
syndrome, or PMS, although it is more likely to occur once a woman
is in her thirties. Bloating, anxiety, irritability, back
pain, nausea, cramping, and lethargy are some of the most common
PMS symptoms.
