Peri-menopause

The third cycle, peri-menopause, literally means around menopause. This transition phase can last anywhere from two to eight years. Women in this lifecycle are typically in their mid forties but peri-menopause can begin as early as the mid-30’s and as late as the mid-50’s. The ovaries are still producing eggs although ovulation may be occurring irregularly. Women in peri-menoapuse are at a late reproductive stage in their lives but it is still possible to conceive. The issue of greatest concern during this stage of life is a condition called estrogen dominance.

Estrogen levels rise and fall during this time of life. Sometimes they are too high, sometimes too low. Fluctuating estrogen levels result in irregular menstrual bleeding. A bigger issue is the fact that the body’s progesterone levels are dramatically decreasing during this time. When estrogen production continues, even erratically, and progesterone levels are declining, the body is thrust into a state of estrogen dominance.

In order to re-establish hormone balance, you need to re-introduce progesterone back into the body. In addition, certain supplements can support the body’s ability to naturally eliminate excess estrogen.
