Fatigue/Low
Energy is a common health complaint but one that is too often dismissed
by the individual or not given enough credence by the medical community.
Our modern world moves so fast that most people today seem to accept
being constantly tired as a normal state of being. It
is not .
In
most cases the source of fatigue can be uncovered with a thorough
physical exam and a medical history with a particular focus on psychosocial
elements combined with a series of blood, urine, and saliva test.
More often than not, the women who come to my office have been frequently
told that their fatigue is "all in your mind." Sadly,
the test results usually reveal that they have been misdiagnosed
and misdirected because they are suffering from adrenal exhaustion
and an inherent hormonal imbalance.
When
you're stressed, worried or tense, your adrenal glands produce four
neurotransmitters (or stress-managing chemicals): epinephrine, norepinephrine, cortisol and DHEA. In the right amounts, these chemicals will support
your body and enable it to remain in good health.
But
when you're under any type of stress (good or bad) on a regular
basis, as most of us are, your adrenal glands become over-taxed.
Then, instead of protecting you from stress, they produce too much
of these chemicals-leaving you exhausted, mentally drained, and
irritable. The over production of stress chemicals also increases
pre-menopausal and menopausal symptoms.
Tips
to help you reclaim your energy and balance your life:
- Have your hormone levels tested
(saliva testing recommended)
- Balance your Hormones: work with
a physician who is knowledgeable about BHRT
- Rest - Rest is essential to help
your body recover from adrenal fatigue.
- Diet - Eating a balanced diet of
fat, protein, and starchy carbohydrates at every meal will provide
more stable energy and put less stress on the body and adrenal
system.
- Lifestyle Change
- Supplements
such as:
B
Complex 100 and Dr.
Randolph's Adrenal Boost. Consider DHEA 25mg daily, and Dr. Randolph's Natural Balance Cream.
