Dear Friends,
I am so grateful for your prayers for my mother, Smiles Randolph. Last weekend when I sent out my note asking for your prayers, my mother was in critical condition. Her condition was increasingly compromised by intractable nausea and vomiting and, because she couldn't eat, she was becoming frighteningly frail. Just days later, on Wednesday, she was able to eat a club sandwich, get her hair done and resume her IV vitamin C therapy.
What caused this miracle? I attribute it to several things; first and foremost, the power of intercessory prayer. Genie and I were overwhelmed with responses from so many of you. Prayer is so powerful. Whatever Higher Power you speak to, we are grateful for you including us in your prayers.
Secondly, I am grateful to the healing hands of a caring physician and my dear friend, Alan Halperin, M.D., who came to her bedside multiple times to treat her nausea with acupuncture. From chips of ice to a club sandwich in just a few day, who would have believed it?
Finally, as I said before, my mother is a true "steel magnolia." Her spirit is indomitable. She is now even talking about taking a cruise!
