Dear Friends,

There is legislation sponsored by Senators Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) and Richard Burr (R-N.C.), the so-called "Safe Drug Compounding Act," which if passed would have serious and negative consequences limiting your access to compounded bio-identical hormones and your right to work directly with your doctor to get the treatment you need and deserve.

It is urgent you take action now to preserve your rights and if you live in MA, NC, KS we strongly encourage you to contact these senators (listed above) and express your displeasure with their actions.

This proposed legislation would restrict and possibly even deny your access to vital compounded medications, like compounded bio-identical hormones, medications that your doctor prescribes and determines you need. This proposed legislation would insert a government agency into the patient-doctor relationship by giving the FDA the authority to determine what options for treatment you need, instead of your doctor.

The legislation would, among other things:
Broadly eliminate the availability of many critical, commonly compounded medications that patients rely on for individualized care, such as bio-identical hormones for women, palliative care options for hospice patients, and small doses for children. Allow the federal government to determine when compounded medicines are needed - a decision that has always been and should always be made by doctors. Restrict the compounded medications doctors can prescribe - even when need is determined.

What you can do:
Write your Senators. To do so, just SUBMIT your letter here. It's critical that you personalize your letter. Tell your own story. Tell them how you rely on compounded medicines and what your life would be like without them.

Forward this email to a friend. Even if your friends and relatives don't rely on compounded medicines themselves, they still have a loved one - you - who does. That's their story to tell. Please encourage them to tell their Senators.
